Become a Panda Freelance Writer!

Panda Guides – Canada’s largest China travel guide publisher and online China content provider – are looking for talented freelance travel writers across China.

Do you have a way with words? Can you paint a picture with your story-telling ability? If so read on. We’re searching for contributors throughout the Middle Kingdom to submit articles about the travelling tales and adventures in this mystical country.

Applicants must be native English speakers who have lived in China for at least one year and have some fascinating stories to share with the world.  A passion for the culture, language, food and/or the people will certainly help shape the soul, and sounds, of your writing.

Preferably we’d love to hear from existing bloggers and those who have travelled extensively through this vast land – but the key ingredient we’re looking for is the quality of your wordplay.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to join Team Panda, email samples of your work – or write up a travel storey – and email it to us at Editor@PandaGuides.com.

Become a Panda Intern!

Work Location: Beijing, China
Internship duration: 1-3 months (flexible)

Job Description: Successful candidates will assist the editorial team in translating from Chinese to English, editing and polishing content, researching and writing articles and short posts (mainly using Chinese media sources) and generating topic ideas and content.

Why intern for us?

Suitable interns who have satisfied our requirements and have successfully demonstrated excellent translation and team player skills as well as a passion for their job, may be hired to stay on as part time or full time in-house translators/editors (working hours negotiable).

During the program, interns will gain practical experience in translating from Chinese to English (interns will translate a wide range of writing styles, from current affairs articles to travel blogs, and events info to practical city guide articles). The program will also equip interns with excellent research skills using primarily Chinese sources and provides an excellent window for gaining a better understanding of China's online media world and web community.

In addition to providing valuable work experience as translators, this internship will also allow interns to gain experience in editing and writing. Interns are encouraged to explore their local environment and stay up to date on topical issues in Chinese media, offering a window of insight into Chinese culture, news, events and trends.

  • Native English
  • University degree (or currently enrolled in a degree program)
  • Outstanding skills in written and spoken English
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team
