Chinese name
司马台 (Sīmǎtái)

Simatai is one of the more rugged parts of the partially restored sections of the Great Wall, though some of the authentic characteristics – crumbly watchtowers and hundred-year-old bricks – may soon be a thing of the past. Simatai has grown vastly in popularity, and it was closed at the time of research for extensive renovation, with no exact date for completion. Though the historical authenticity of Simatai may be lost in restoration, the wonderful beauty of the scenery will still be worth a visit. Check back in future guides for updated information.
