President's Message
At its heart, Panda Guides is dedicated to helping travelers and expats maximize their experience in China. Whether you’re a tourist looking to scratch the surface of 5,000 years of history, a businessperson working in a Fortune 500 company under the bright lights of a booming metropolis, or a diligent English teacher exploring the world one classroom at a time, our mission is to provide trustful and reliable information to make your stay in the Middle Kingdom as smooth and as fun as possible.

Our mission is to provide trustful and reliable information to make your stay in the Middle Kingdom as smooth and as fun as possible.

So why, you may ask, do we care about the foreign community in China so much? Well, it’s because we are part of the foreign community. Many of us left our homes to live the Chinese dream – learning the language and customs, traveling to all corners of the country, and interacting with the locals on a daily basis. We came here and were so enamored by China and the Chinese people that we want every foreigner who leaves their footprints here to have as wonderful of an experience as we did. Since there are major cultural differences between the East and West, we figured the best way to help foreigners in China is to provide guides and other tools in all shapes and sizes to suit every kind of tourist and expat alike.
At the moment, we have four travel guide books and corresponding maps: China, Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. (See Shop for our selection of guidebooks and maps.) These informative and easy-to-use guides and full-color maps will lead you on a journey through the best of what this fascinating country has to offer: you can trek through the mountainous ethnic-minority villages of Yunnan, kick up dust on the back of a camel on the Silk Road, feast on a dim sum extravaganza in Hong Kong, or tour the historical UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Old Beijing. Whether you’re looking to stay on or stray away from the beaten path, we have options for you. Furthermore, our recommendations of hotels, restaurants, bars and shopping venues not only get you to the hottest spots in town, but also help you save money by offering discounts at selected Panda Partners. No other guidebook on the market offers discounts to their readers.
Panda Guides’ books and services aimed towards China's expat communities are the first of its kind. The English Teacher’s Guide to China assists those teaching ESL here to become ace teachers and understand the culture better, while the expat guides for Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong will help newcomers and China long-timers who’ve been in the country for years immerse themselves into the local culture and live easier and more comfortably. Our team will also have various scheduled activities, updates on the country's hottest venues, and special events constantly running throughout the year, so make sure to check our website frequently.

Panda Guides is more than just a guide, it's an experience.

If all this wasn’t enough, we’ve decided to really put our money where our mouth is by creating the Panda Ambassadors Program. With this one of a kind program, we give away all-inclusive free trips to China. As mentioned, we want as many individuals as possible to have the same impressions of this wonderful country that we have, so we felt that it was only natural to pay for foreigners to come here on our dime and experience it personally.
As you can see, Panda Guides is more than just a guide, it's an experience, and after following the Panda you'll quickly see why Panda knows China better. The Panda Guides team and I would like to be the first to welcome you to China, and we’d be more than happy to assist you with anything you need to make your memories of China last a lifetime; we’d love to hear from you.
